This was our first year working on the Bristol 10K where we provided the marquees to house the support services (located in the Lloyds Amphitheatre). We have previously worked with REM on the Bristol Half Marathon and will be doing so again in September 2015.
The Bristol 10K has been run every year since 2008 when it attracted 5000 entries. In 2014, 12,000 people registered for the event while the limit this year was 15,000, showing just how fast this race is growing in popularity.
Bristol’s ceremonial lord mayor, councillor Clare Campion-Smith, started the race which began and ended in Anchor Road. The route took competitors along the harbourside and under the Clifton Suspension Bridge, providing those taking part with a fantastic perspective on our wonderful city.
Ten kilometres is equal to just over 6 miles and the race attracted runners of all ages and abilities, including running club members, elite athletes from all over the world and thousands just running for the sheer fun of it! The men’s race was won by Jonah Chesum, who made it round in a time of 29 minutes and 17 seconds according to the event’s official twitter feed. The women’s champion was Louise Damen who completed the course in 33 minutes and 40 seconds.
The Bristol 10K is a really great event and we hope to be involved with it for many years to come as it continues to grow.
