For the second year in a row, Andrews Marquees has helped the Bristol Half Marathon to run smoothly by providing marquees to house the support services.
The marathon, now in its 27th year, took place on Sunday 13 September 2015 and saw more than 7,000 runners take part. The event is organised in partnership with Richmond Event Management (REM) who we regularly work with on a number of events both locally and further afield, including the Bristol 10K earlier this year.
We provided all the marquees for the marathon support staff based at the Lloyds Amphitheatre serving the mixture of elite and amateur runners who took part in the race. Lord Mayor Clare Campion-Smith started the race which officially supports three charities: St Peter’s Hospice, Penny Brohn Cancer Care and Refugee Action.
The race’s overall winner was 20-year-old Kenyan Morris Gachaga in his European debut. Gachaga beat the previous course record of 62 minutes, 51 seconds with a time of 61 minutes 32 seconds. The women’s race was won by Teresuiah Omosa with a time of 73 minutes, 48 seconds which was almost a minute faster than her closest rival Michelle Ross-Cope who managed a time of 74 minutes, 39 seconds. Local elite athlete Jenny Spink was the third fastest woman at 74 minutes, 56 seconds.
Another familiar local face was former Lord Mayor Alistair Watson who completed the marathon in one hour, 45 minutes, 51 seconds.
